Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Extempo LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company doing business as FastSeas ("FastSeas," "we," "our," or "us"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our weather routing and passage planning tools, available via our website and our satellite email gateway (together, the "Service").
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Google, Facebook, or X, we receive your email address, display name, and profile picture from that provider. If you sign in with a magic email link instead, we only collect your email address. FastSeas has no passwords to manage - there's nothing for you to remember and nothing for us to store insecurely.
Vessel and Route Information
To calculate a route, FastSeas needs to know about your vessel and your plans: your vessel's performance data (polar diagram), comfort criteria (for example, the maximum wind speeds you're willing to sail in), and the start/finish locations and departure times you enter. If you're signed in, we save this so you don't have to re-enter it every time. Calculated routes, including the positions, timing, and weather conditions along the route, are also saved to your account.
Satellite Email Requests
If you request a route by email from a satellite messenger (such as a Garmin inReach, Iridium GO!, Zoleo, or similar device), we receive and store the email address, message text, and command you sent, plus - if the message contains one - your device's GPS coordinates, which we use as the starting point for your route. We reply by sending your routing result back to your device over the same satellite network.
Payment Information
FastSeas subscriptions are processed by Stripe. When you subscribe, your payment details go directly to Stripe - we never see or store your card number. We keep only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status (such as plan type and renewal date) so we know what access to give your account.
Usage Data
We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used - for example, which features are used most, and to measure conversions when someone subscribes. This involves cookies and standard web-analytics data (such as your browser, device type, and pages visited). We don't use this data to identify you personally beyond what Google Analytics itself provides.
Log Data
Like most web services, our servers automatically log technical information about requests to the Service (such as IP address, timestamps, and request details) for debugging and abuse-prevention purposes.
How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service, including calculating and saving your routes
- Process subscription payments and manage your account
- Send routing results back to you, including over satellite email
- Communicate with you about your account or changes to the Service
- Understand usage patterns so we can prioritize improvements
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse
How We Share Information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service, with the following service providers:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) - hosting, data storage, and processing infrastructure
- Stripe - payment processing
- Google, Facebook, and X (Twitter) - if you choose to sign in using one of these providers
- Google Analytics - usage analytics
- Windy - the interactive forecast map. Map and forecast layers are loaded from Windy's servers as you use the chart, so Windy sees the requests your device makes for them. We don't send Windy your account details.
- Sentry - error monitoring and diagnostics. When you're signed in, crash and performance reports sent to Sentry include your account id, email address, and display name, so we can trace a fault back to the account that hit it.
- Our email infrastructure, for sending account and routing emails
- Garmin, or the relevant satellite network operator, if you use the satellite email gateway - your reply is delivered through their network to your device
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FastSeas, our users, or others.
Cookies and Tracking
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and cookies set by Google Analytics to measure usage. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
Your Choices
You can review or update your account information from within the Service, and you can permanently delete your account yourself - open Settings and choose Delete Account. No need to contact us. To request a copy of your data, contact us at the email below. If you're located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, you may have additional rights over your personal information under applicable law (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability); contact us and we'll do our best to help.
Data Retention
We keep your account and route data for as long as your account is active, so the Service can work the way it's supposed to (remembering your vessel and past routes). If you delete your account, we delete it immediately and permanently - your account record, your saved routes and departure plans (including their positions), and your vessel settings. This is a deletion, not a deactivation, and it can't be undone.
Two things we keep, and why. Records of payments - invoices and payment history held by our payment processor, Stripe - are retained for tax and accounting purposes, and to resolve any billing dispute or chargeback, which can arise months after an account is closed. And if you previously unsubscribed from marketing email, we keep that unsubscribe record, so we don't email you again if your address ever reappears.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, though, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
International Users
FastSeas is based in the United States, and the Service is hosted and operated there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated policy here with a new "Last updated" date.
